Maui beaches
Maui beaches are among the most beautiful beaches in the world. Maui has over 30 miles of
beaches so one must carefully choose which they will visit. Some beaches such as Kaanapali are highly developed while others are completely
untouched with hardly a soul around. However they are all spectacular in their own right and regardless of where you end up you will be in awe of
the natural beauty of Maui.
Napili Bay Beach
If you're after a great swimming and novice snorkeling spot then try Napili Bay. It is located in the West Maui at the end of the
Napili Bay, three miles north of Kaanapali Beach. It's a very beautiful white sand beach encircled by palm trees for shade and beauty. The
slope of the beach into the water is steep and visitors should be careful when entering the water.
Kapalua Beach
Kapalua beach has repeatedly been on the best beaches of America and the world lists. It is
great for swimming year-round and is incredibly safe, as it is protected from winter swells by lava rock on both ends.
Kaanapali Beach
Kaanapali Beach is a lovely spot, it runs
from canoe beach in the south to Black Rock in the north. Kaanapali was the first planned resort on Maui, developed in the 1950's, now its entire
beach lining is surrounded with luxury hotel resorts. Kaanapali Beach is considered one of the best in Maui. You'll see spectacular sunsets here
so it is perfect for photography or romantic strolls in the evening. Make sure you check out CJ's Diner near Kaanapali Beach. They have a huge
breakfast and great lunch menu.
Kihei Beache
The Kihei area is a popular spot for tourists. It is on the south shore of Maui. North Kihei
can get quite hot but that hardly matters when you can cool off on the beach! If you're really keen on water then stay at the Mana Kai Maui
Resort which lies on a rocky shore across from Keawakapu beach.
Big Beach
The official name of the beach is 'Makena Beach', but commonly known as 'Big Beach', it's a lovely sandy beach with 2/3 mile long
shoreline and 100 yards wide. Big Beach is a must-see on Maui and is often referred to as THE beach on Maui. Adjacent to this beach to the
right is the 'Little Beach', which is a 'clothing optional' beach. Big Beach often has larger surf than the surrounding beaches, and the
waves break right at the shore in what is known as a "shorebreak". The cause of the shorebreak is the quick drop-off of the shore into the
water, so just be cautious with the Shorebreaks.
These are just some of the wonderful beaches that await you in Maui. Maui beaches have so
much to offer, you have to be here to feel the warmth of Maui.
